Savory oatmeal
Who says oatmeal has to be sweet?
While I love scooping a dollop of honey and crushing some nuts onto my oatmeal, sometimes I just want something different. And this perfect savory oatmeal does the trick!
I prefer sweet over savory in 99.99% of cases, and this is one of the exceptions. I get out of bed so excited knowing that I have a HUGE bowl of yummy goodness waiting for me in the cupboard ('cause I like to prepare my breakfast in advance).
What's more, this dish is truly filling, satisfying & dead-easy and quick to make. All you have to do is place the oats in pan, pour in the milk, let it cook, add toppings and enjoy! It literally requires minimal effort and cooking skills, but the results are almost too good to be true. It also makes a great opportunity to pile up on veggies.
Without further ado, let's see how you can make savory oatmeal!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 cup oats
- salt to taste (I recommend using plenty of it)
- spices of choice (my go-to is oregano)
- 2/3 cup milk of choice
- Optional add-ins/toppings: grated cheese, veggies, boiled or fried eggs
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Place the oats in a pan and turn on the stove.
2. Pour the milk and salt and mix thoroughly as it cooks.
3. Add the spices and optional grated cheese and mix well.
4. When it starts having a very thick and creamy texture, take off the heat, add toppings and enjoy!

That was easy, wasn't it?
